Der Dish-vasher (The Dishwasher)

A dishwasher’s lament is an odd subject for a song, and even more so for a musical, but the Yiddish theater always loved a good sob story. My character Azulee, who had her own woes washing dishes in a restaurant kitchen, learns this song in Yiddish, with surprising results. This version is highly operatic, but so was the original song.
