Yiddish-speaking socialists sang “Di Tsukunft” (in English, “The Future”), to remind themselves that there was hope for the future, even though they recalled a tragic past and lived in a dark present. Cantor Yisroel Lesches’ version, titled “A Yinger Velt”, set to a jazz beat, is a great re-interpretation.
