Der Becher

I grew up listening to Theodore Bikel sing Yiddish folk songs, and until I wrote the Detroit trilogy, I never knew that this song (also called “Tayere Malke”) was part of the liturgy of the Workmen’s Circle Third Seder. I’ve herd several versions, but Bikel’s is my favorite.
