Cylinder Heads

When I started writing Motor City at War, I never dreamed I’d learn so much about the production of cylinder heads for bomber engines. Cylinder heads are actually beautiful and sculptural objects, and their manufacture is complicated. I’m grateful to a former Buick employee who created an historical website dedicated to cylinder heads. It’s about manufacture, but it’s also about the culture of the plant, too—who worked there, and exactly what they did. Take a tour of the wartime factory floor.
